Here, John's music is not so much a concert but is more like an accompaniment to the call of birds and the lazy summer breezes that drift through the trees this time of year.

This is a very informal event so come and walk about the gardens or sit with a piece of homemade pie and slowly take in a bit of a Dancing Oak Nursery tradition in the making.

Oct 8, 2010 - New Christy Minstrels In Concert - Vancouver, Washington

Oct 8, 2010 @ TBA
New Christy Minstrels In Concert
Hilton Hotel & Conference Center
301 W., Sixth St.
Vancouver, Washington
USA
Price: TBA
John has been asked to join in this historic concert by one of the most famous music groups of the early 1960's. The New Christy Minstrels were central to the Urban Folk Revival and the history they made then is continuing with it's early original members. Randy Sparks created the group and has debuted and showcased amazing talent over the past 50 years to include John Denver, Steve Martin, Barry Macquire, Kenny Rogers, the Carpenters, the Moma's and the Papas, Mike Nesmith of the Monkees, and literally scores of others.

Randy Sparks says:

"John Doan is one of my best discoveries and an undiscovered treasure, and he has an outside chance at becoming a superstar in the same category as the Danish classical musician-turned comedian, Victor Borge.~~What's the logic in that statement, you ask?~~When Borge was getting started, no classical musician had ever crossed the line to become a household name in showbiz.~~Jack Benny may be seen as a near-exception to that rule, but he wasn't really the virtuoso that Victor was, and that John also happens to be. I believe in John, by his intellect and the endearing way he has with people, audiences, and simply everybody. I honestly believe we need more quality class-acts in our business of show, and John is exactly that."

What also will makes this a special concert is that tonight's venue is just two short blocks from the site of the old Frontier Room, where Randy invented the group, came up with the name, and recruited its first four members! With a history of some three hundred former members over the years John's former performances with the group place him at #287!

Don't miss this date to experience wonderful music and an historical moment!
